For reviewers

Guidelines for Reviewers

The following indications are general guidelines for reviewing research articles. Should you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with the editor that sent you the invitation to review or with the Editorial Office (jeod@euricse.eu).

  • Please try to meet the deadlines given. If you cannot provide a timely review, please let the Editorial Office know when to expect your review. If you are not in the position to accept the invitation to review, please let us know at your earliest convenience. If you are unable to review, we would appreciate if you could provide names of alternative reviewers.
  • Disclose conflict of interest. If you think that you cannot provide an impartial evaluation, you should reject the invitation to review. If you think that recognizing the author’s work does not prevent you from giving an impartial review, please inform the editor of the potential conflict of interest.

Regarding your comments to the authors, please bear in mind the following.

  • Do not identify yourself or your institution.
  • Please provide your comments by pasting them in the specific text box on the system.
  • Please cite page number when referring to specific parts of the manuscript.
  • Please be polite, detailed and constructive. Focus on the manuscript, not the authors.
  • Please provide enough details in your recommendations for the authors to understand why you made them.
  • Please provide specific citations to help authors identify the literature you are referring to.
  • Do not include overall recommendations (e.g., this work is publishable/unacceptable, etc.) in your comments to the authors. Such recommendations should only appear in the comments to the editor.
  • Your comments to the authors should be consistent with those you write to the editor.
  • Manuscripts are often written by someone whose first language is not English. Please distinguish between quality of writing and quality of ideas. If writing is weak, please recommend editing/proofreading in your comments to the authors.
